“might be a cute name...”

why the name “moo”?
richard flipped through a magazine and saw the word “moo.” since we were doing ice cream (dairy) and burgers (beef), we joked that it might be a cute name. we mentioned it to our friend, ashling, who immediately designed our logo. the logo was done, we fell in love with the name - - it just stuck.

why can’t I get a tomato on my burger in January?
we try to use seasonal produce as much as possible. we like to support local farmers and the fact is, local produce just tastes better. out of season tomatoes from Chile (which is what you find at the grocery store), are picked under-ripe and become mealy during the process of packing and moving over and over again before making it to the final destination. come to moo in august/september and we promise to give you the best BLTA you have ever had.

where do you get your buns and bread?
all of our brioche buns are made in house daily by alberto and juan. our brioche loaves, wheat loaf bread, ciabatta, olive bread and flatbread are also made at moo daily. we purchase our soft rolls from pyrenees bakery and our rye bread is purchased from european bakery.

how many locations do you have? are you planning to open any additional locations?
moo creamery on truxtun opened on december 24, 2008. we are planning to take over the coffee shop at the bakersfield racquet club mid-march. we are very excited!
